Our First Anniversary on the Bonnie Bonnie Shores of Loch Lomond

Okay things are a little out of order here for a moment…..we still have at least one Scotland post for you, before we should be posting this one, but we thought we better get to this before it became very outdated news.

On Sunday July 3rd, we celebrated our first anniversary on the shores of Loch Lomond!!

Loch Lomond is small vacation area about 40 minutes outside of Glasgow. Loch means lake, and this was a huge one all nestled within the rolling green Scottish hills.

We spent two nights at the local Youth Hostel, which used to be the hunting grounds for King Robert the Bruce. Locals told us it was haunted but there wasn’t anything terribly bone-chilling which made us believe them.

For our anniversary, we rented a castle!

We spent the day cycling around the area, having lunch next to the Ballach Castle, and then enjoyed an amazing Anniversary Dinner at the Kilted Skirlie Restaurant with a water front view….and yes, we did enjoy the haggis!!

Mmmmmm Haggis!

Looking out onto the Loch for dinner

We had an amazing first anniversary, and can’t even imagine where we will be for our second!

Happy anniversary! Sounds like you guys are having a great trip so far. I look forward to following you around the world and traveling vicariously through you. Our trips have become more subdued and have much larger packing lists now that we do this with a 3 yr old and 1.5 yr old:)

    Happy and safe travels!

Oh you have had your share of killer trips….but yes, I suspect our year-long sabbaticals will also come to an end once kids start jumping out….it will be no time at all when we are exchanging treks across Spain for Teacup rides at Disneyland!
